Fed up with family disputes in the European country of Germany, a woman faked her death by killing her lookalike.
According to media reports, prosecutors said that 23-year-old accused Sharaban K found her lookalike with the help of social media and then killed him.
Prosecutors said the accused created fake social media accounts to find a woman who looked like her and then met her in August 2022.
The incident took place in the southern German city of Ingolstadt, where a bloodied body of a woman was found on August 16, 2022, with 50 stab wounds.
Initially, the police identified the body as Sharaban K and the woman's parents also believed that it was their daughter.
It should be noted that the full names of the accused and the victim have not been revealed by the German police.
But after the post-mortem, police identified the murdered woman as 23-year-old Khadidja O, an Algerian-born blogger.
According to the police, Khadija and Sharaban K were similar in appearance and hence the German media called it a 'lookalike murder'.
There was a lot of media speculation about the reason for the murder, but on January 30, the authorities spoke about it for the first time.
The statement issued by the Prosecutor's Office said that after the investigation, it was found that the accused faked her death to avoid family disputes.
 According to the statement, on the day of the murder, the accused along with one of her friends took the victim to a forest in a car and stabbed her to death.
MArrest warrants were issued for the two accused on January 26 and 27 and the police have now taken them into custody.
Police said that this is a very unusual case, such a case does not come up everyday, the day we found the body we did not even imagine what the reality would be.
 If convicted, both the accused are likely to be sentenced to life in prison.
