Corona Virus: The Chinese president urges to “protect lives” in light of the crowding of hospitals with the infected

 Chinese President Xi Jinping urged officials on Monday to take measures aimed at protecting citizens, in his first public remarks on COVID-19 since Beijing largely eased strict health restrictions this month.
China, which was most of the time isolating itself from the rest of the world during the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, is witnessing the largest increase in cases of infection on the planet after it suddenly canceled measures that damaged the country's economy.
Statistics estimated the possibility of about a million deaths in the coming months, at a time when many are currently suffering from a shortage of medicines, while emergency medical facilities are facing pressure due to the influx of elderly patients who suffer from a lack of vaccination.
"At present, China's COVID-19 prevention and control measures face a new situation and new tasks," said the Chinese president, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
"We must launch a national health campaign with specific goals, strengthen a community line of defense for epidemic prevention and control, and effectively protect people's lives, safety, and health," Xi added.
